The Rockstar Debate: Why Ebro Was Right About Lil Uzi Vert Since Day One!

Lil Uzi Vert has called himself a “Rockstar” so many times you’d think he invented the guitar, even though he can’t play one, can’t sell out a stadium, and can’t even pull off a proper world tour. The word ‘’Rockstar’’ has officially lost its meaning. That’s why the recent Wale vs. Ebro debate on Hot 97 shakes the culture like a reminder alarm: Is Lil Uzi Vert a rockstar, yes or no?
SPOILER: FUCK NO NIGGA!
Uzi hasn’t just declined in numbers; he’s on a cultural downslope, too. ever since he dropped his biggest and IN MY OPINION his best album Eternal Atake. His audience grew up, but he didn’t. There’s been zero artistic growth, zero vision, zero elevation, which is why his last two albums Pink Tape and Eternal Atake 2, were so badly received, even allowing clowns like Playboi Carti to overtake him in cultural relevance.
Ebro has been right about Uzi since the infamous 2016 Hot 97 interview, where Uzi refused to freestyle over “Old Man Beats.” Meanwhile, Juice WRLD (RIP) freestyled for over an hour on Tim Westwood without breaking a sweat. One came to prove he had skill. The other came to protect an aesthetic.
Let’s call it what it is: Uzi, Yachty, Kodak, and yes, even your little vamp hero Carti led hip-hop into an era where vibes replaced skill, aesthetics replaced ambition, and low effort raps were glazed like it was holy scripture. These druggies have made it acceptable for cartoon characters like Yeat, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Osamason, Nettspend, and many other Instagram cosplayers using “new wave” as an excuse for mediocrity.
Hip-hop didn’t fall off because of one man, but Uzi is absolutely responsible for the door these clowns walked through. The culture started crowning “Rockstars” who never rocked anything except pink diamonds in their forehead.
Ebro wasn’t hating. He did what the culture rarely does anymore. Gatekeep! He said the truth out loud. Ebro was diagnosing the disease. And people still refuse to take the medicine because they’re allergic to honesty and blinded by nostalgia!
A real rockstar sells out stadiums, commands global dominance, and doesn’t rely on curated mystery, internet hype, or clout-chasing activities to stay relevant. Michael Jackson was a rock star! Prince was a rock star! Jimi Hendrix was a rock star! Little Uzi Vertical? Nigga please…
