Welcome to modern streaming culture: where dignity is optional, shame is outdated, and going viral is the only currency that still pays. These individuals, known for broadcasting themselves, have amassed millions of followers and sponsorships. But what talents do they actually possess, and what do they actually contribute to our modern society, our youth, and the entertainment world?
From Basement to World Wide Fame:
Let’s start with the ‘’Big 3’’ of the modern-day streaming world: Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed , and Adin Ross. Three young men who, in my opinion, are pioneers of this degeneracy movement. Act like a fool or embarrass yourself, and the algorithm is yours!
Now, don’t get me wrong, these guys didn’t invent degeneracy. Shows like The Jerry Springer Show, Jackass, and Jersey Shore have been around longer than these nerds. They just happen to franchise degeneracy in the modern internet culture.
The Business of Acting Like a Degenerate:
Streaming today isn’t only about entertainment; it’s also about escalation and controversy. Every stream must surpass the previous one. Louder. Dumber. More unhinged. If nobody’s screaming, being a nuisance, or “accidentally” starting a public disturbance, did you even go live?
"In Real Life," streamers or ‘’IRL streamers’’ have made the public spaces their playground. Malls, streets, restaurants, Oscars, Grammys, Ballon d'Or, BET Awards, nothing is sacred. You’re just trying to buy groceries, and suddenly, some nerd confronts, harasses, and just ruins your entire week. And for what? Being a slave to your chat? Getting recognition and validation from these dumb Gen Alpha kids who will forget you in a blink of an second? Not everything needs to be content. Some things need to be called what they are: nuisances. Luckily, some of these clowns, like Vitaly or Johnny Somali, got what they deserved!
But creators like JiDion don’t just make prank content. He has helped normalize the idea that being disruptive, reckless, and antisocial is a legitimate career strategy, whether it is being an idiot at a Tennis or Basketball game. And JiDion wasn’t the first, nor was he the only one. Kai Cenat also did these things. Putting out content like ‘’Cooking during college lectures’’ or ‘’Taking money from tip jars’’.
Now there’s a whole generation of kids who genuinely believe success comes from “doing stupid shit and elevating yourself.’’ Not skill. Not craft. Not consistency. Just chaos. Most of them won’t make it. But they will get arrested, banned, expelled, or hurt trying.
Clout Is a Drug, and Clip Farming Is the Needle:
Then there’s the ‘’clip farming’’ epidemic. Streamers now talk like they’re permanently auditioning for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts. Everything is exaggerated. Every sentence is bait. Every moment is designed to be chopped, looped, and pollute our algorithms. Content that doesn’t inform or inspire. And every single time, we just get fed with this shit only for it to fry our brain cells. Brain-rot!
The Kids Are Watching (Unfortunately):
This is where it gets uncomfortable. These idiots are, unfortunately, very influential. They have a massive young audience. Kids. Teenagers. Viewers whose brains are still buffering. Yet guys like Deshae Frost, Neon, and many more are perfectly comfortable associating themselves with sex workers like Teanna Trump, Rubi Rose, Celina Powell, and Danae Davis. Promoting hypersexualized chaos and pornography while knowing full well who’s watching. This isn’t about morality policing. It’s about responsibility!
Failing Upward, YoungDabo:
Then we have the side characters, the crash test dummies of streaming culture Young Dabo. A kid who turns self-embarrassment into a career path. No talent, no plan, just raw secondhand embarrassment weaponized for clicks. His whole brand is: “Look how far I’ll degrade myself if you give me attention.” The bar for self-respect is extremely low with this kid. Getting embarrassed and borderline bullied by the internet for looking ‘’ugly’’ or in Gen-Z slang: ‘’chopped’' should in no shape or form be normalized in our culture!
Racism and Self-Hatred:
But the joke stops being funny when you look closer. Why is Young Dabo the only streamer considered ‘’chopped’’ exactly? What about other streamers like Rakai, DDG, or Plaqueboymax? Why is it that the internet has made Young Dabo the scapegoat? Is this whole situation actually way deeper than it looks? Or is it a bigger reflection of how our Western society has this beauty standard and an inferiority complex against men with African features and a darker skin complexion?
Because a lot of the intimidation, harassment, humiliation, and bullying that has happened and still happens to Young Dabo, especially at the ‘’Streaming University’’ happens to a lot of young black men all over the world who look exactly like him. They just don’t have an audience like he does for the world to see!
Conclusion: Log Off and Touch Grass:
Streaming didn’t have to be this. It could’ve been art. It could’ve been creativity. Instead, it has become a digital circus where the loudest clown gets the biggest check, and everyone else is encouraged by a polluted algorithm to do the same. Maybe it’s time we stop asking, “Is this content?” And start asking, “Why are we rewarding this?”
